Subang Supports Coastal Cleanup and Waste Assessment in Siquijor

Subang leaders and volunteers joined Zero Waste Youth Siquijor and Mother Earth Foundation Philippines for a coastal cleanup, waste assessment, and brand audit at La Isla Bonita in Caticugan, Siquijor, on December 27, 2024.

The activity was led by Zero Waste Youth Siquijor President Justin Anton Aguisanda, together with Mother Earth Foundation Siquijor Assistant Project Officer Beleeth L. Bernardo and Community Organizer Sylma Fern T. Guibone.

The waste assessment and brand audit were designed to generate information that could help communities and decision-makers better understand waste management challenges and inform local policy discussions related to Republic Act No. 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Subang National Executive President Peter John C. Enorio delivered a message during the activity emphasizing the value of relevant community data in supporting local policy development. Subang representatives included Raf B. Jimenez of Subang - University of San Carlos, Jerecho Jose P. Sumalpong of Subang - Visayas State University, and former Subang - Siquijor Human Resource Director Jehan Joane M. Jumalon.

The activity also involved the Sangguniang Kabataan Barangay Council of Taloot in Argao, Cebu, Leaders and Advocates for Greater Siquijor, Siquijor Advocates for Adolescent Health and Development, the Office of Board Member Brylle Deeiah D. Tumarong, and the Provincial Youth Development Council.

Subang's participation connected its youth and volunteer network with a broader community effort to address waste management through environmental action, data gathering, and local collaboration.
