Subang Leads Mangrove Growing and Coastal Cleanup in Alegria

Subang volunteers conducted a mangrove growing and coastal cleanup activity in Barangay Santa Filomena, Alegria, Cebu, on December 21, 2024, continuing the organization's work in coastal restoration and environmental stewardship.

The activity was led by National Executive President Peter John C. Enorio, together with CTU chapter leaders and volunteers including Krista Marie Frances C. Bicada, Dennis B. Bendulo, Cedrick B. Parojinog, Rodney Joseph B. Sundo, Laurence Glenn B. Parojinog, and volunteer interns Shaina Faith D. Visorro and Queenelene Faith N. Perpetua.

The mangrove growing component involved Rhizophora species and followed natural zonation and tidal elevation considerations in determining planting locations.

Volunteers also conducted a coastal cleanup to remove trash and debris from the shoreline, addressing waste that could contribute to coastal and marine pollution.

By combining mangrove restoration with coastal cleanup, the activity brought together two complementary forms of environmental action: restoring coastal vegetation and reducing waste along the shoreline.
