Subang Community Affairs Department Supports Rabies Awareness and Free Vaccination Drive

Subang Community Affairs Department joined partner organizations in conducting a Rabies Awareness Symposium and Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive at Cebu Technological University - Barili Campus on March 19 and 20, 2024.

The initiative was co-presented by the Future Science and Technology Leaders of the Philippines CTU-Barili, Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research CTU Chapter, Veterinary Students Society, Veterinary Medicine Clinicians Club, Carcar City Veterinary Office, and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of the Local Government Unit of Barili.

Held under the theme "Rabies-free na Pusa't Aso, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipino," the activity brought together students, pet owners, and residents from Barangay Cagay and Barangay Kalubihan in Barili.

The symposium provided participants with information about rabies, its transmission, prevention, and the importance of timely vaccination. Veterinary professionals and student organizations contributed to the educational component of the activity, helping pet owners better understand their role in preventing the spread of the disease.

The vaccination component provided free anti-rabies vaccination for eligible pets, connecting public awareness with a practical preventive measure.

Through the initiative, Subang's Community Affairs Department contributed to a collaborative effort linking education, animal welfare, and community health. The activity demonstrated how partnerships among student organizations, veterinary groups, government offices, and community stakeholders can address issues that affect both people and animals.
