Subang Supports Microplastic Extraction Training and Seminar at CTU-Barili

Cebu Technological University - Barili Campus hosted a three-day Microplastic Extraction and Isolation Training and Seminar from May 27 to 29, 2024, bringing together faculty members and students for practical learning in environmental research.

The activity was organized in collaboration with Mindanao State University - Naawan, the Center for Studies in Biotechnology, the Center for Microplastics Research and Innovation, the Research on Environment and Nanotechnology Laboratory, and Subang.

Faculty members and graduate and undergraduate students from CTU-Barili participated in sessions covering microplastic extraction, density preparation, picking, characterization, and research paper discussions. Resource persons Marybeth Hope Banda, Charmjill Y. Bacsarpa, and Justine Benitez provided technical guidance throughout the training.

The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Pet Roey L. Pascual, Director of CTU-Barili DOST STRAND-N, together with BIOTECH Center Director Kristy Amor A. Garcia and Subang President Peter John C. Enorio.

Held as part of CTU-Barili Campus' 76th Founding Anniversary activities, the training provided participants with practical exposure to methods relevant to the study of microplastic pollution while strengthening collaboration between academic and community partners.
