Preparing for the Next 1,000: Black Bamboo Propagation and Site Maintenance

On November 23, 2024, Subang - Cebu Technological University Chapter continued its Bamboo Propagation Project by preparing 1,000 polybags for the propagation of an additional 1,000 black bamboo plants at the CTU-Barili Campus.

The activity involved CWTS and LTS trainees with the support of their respective staff. Preparing planting containers at this scale established the materials needed for the next phase of bamboo propagation and demonstrated the importance of preparation in sustaining a growing environmental initiative.

The day's activities also included maintenance work at the Adopt-A-Hectare Project. Trainees watered established trees as part of their continuing care, while another team worked on a recovery chamber for propagated bamboo. The chamber provides a designated space for nurturing planting materials before transplantation.

Together, these activities reflected a broader approach to environmental restoration that extends beyond planting itself. Propagation, maintenance, recovery, and eventual transplantation are treated as interconnected stages of sustained environmental action.
