Advancing Reforestation Through Bamboo and Kamagong Transplanting

On November 16, 2024, Subang - Cebu Technological University Chapter conducted a bamboo and kamagong transplanting activity at the CTU-Barili Campus in collaboration with Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) trainees.

The activity involved the transplantation of propagated bamboo and kamagong (Diospyros blancoi), a native Philippine tree species. By bringing students into the practical work of establishing and caring for planting materials, the activity connected environmental education with hands-on ecological stewardship.

The afternoon activity was supported by Subang - CTU Environmental Affairs Deputy Director Augustin P. Tapinit, Associate Director Laurence Reinz S. Tolentino, Human Resource Director Dennis B. Bendulo, Senior Environmental Advocate Gissa Mae C. Castino, and interns James P. Posas, Shaina Faith D. Visorro, and Kesiah C. Montesuso, with assistance from CWTS staff members Jan Emmanuel Lausa and Dave Baran.

The transplanting activity formed part of Subang - CTU's continuing environmental initiatives, which combine propagation, site maintenance, and volunteer participation to support longer-term restoration efforts.
