Growing Black Bamboo Through Youth Participation
Subang - CTU Chapter led a black bamboo propagation activity with CWTS and LTS trainees, resulting in the planting of 100 black bamboo specimens at the CTU-Barili Campus.
On November 16, 2024, Subang - Cebu Technological University Chapter conducted a Black Bamboo Propagation activity at the CTU-Barili Campus in collaboration with Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) trainees.
A total of 100 black bamboo specimens were planted during the activity, adding another component to the chapter's continuing environmental restoration and sustainable landscape efforts.
The activity was co-facilitated by CWTS and LTS staff with assistance from Subang - CTU volunteers. Human Resource Director Dennis B. Bendulo, Senior Environmental Advocate Gissa Mae C. Castino, and interns Shaina Faith D. Visorro and Kesiah C. Montesuso supported the implementation, alongside CWTS staff members Jan Emmanuel Lausa and Dave Baran.
By involving students and trainees in hands-on environmental activities, the initiative connected volunteerism, practical learning, and ecological stewardship. The activity also demonstrated how institutional partnerships can expand the reach of community-based environmental action.
