Subang Environmental Affairs Department Leads World Water Day Cleanup at CTU-Barili

In observance of World Water Day on March 22, 2024, Subang's Environmental Affairs Department led a cleanup and restoration activity at a well and spring at Cebu Technological University - Barili Campus.

The initiative was led by SEAD Vice-President Rodney Joseph B. Sundo and brought together volunteers and representatives from different Subang departments, including President Peter John C. Enorio, Executive Vice-President Krista Bicada, Community Affairs Vice-President Joshua Ray Calago, Community Development Vice-President Mahlah Cuizon, Community Affairs Deputy Director Jerecho Sumalpong, SEAD Deputy Director Augustin Tapinit, SEAD Junior Environmental Advocate Crestine Lendio, SMFD Marketing Officer Danicah Coca, SED Junior A+ Advocate Jedi Guillano, SCAD Junior Mission Volunteer Sopia Baritua, and SCD Junior Staff Maekaila Ozon.

Participants worked to clear accumulated waste and restore the surrounding area of the campus's water sources. The activity provided a practical response to concerns around water-source protection while engaging volunteers in direct environmental stewardship.

The cleanup complemented Subang's broader environmental work at CTU-Barili, including riparian restoration, bamboo propagation, and biodiversity documentation. Together, these activities reflected an approach that treats water sources and surrounding ecosystems as interconnected parts of campus environmental management.

The World Water Day activity reinforced the importance of protecting local water sources through regular maintenance, responsible waste management, and sustained community participation.
