Subang Joins When We Care Movement's Water and Coastal Action in Hilasgasan

Subang joined the When We Care Movement's Da VetMed's 1n Action H2O campaign on June 2, 2023 in Barangay Hilasgasan, Barili, Cebu, bringing together student volunteers and community members for activities focused on water awareness and environmental protection.

The program, hosted by Vein Jodaina Licayan together with Alexis Kimberly Carreon and Lourfamay Dologan, opened with a briefing for participating students and an orientation on the day's activities. The organizers also recognized the partnership between Subang and the When We Care Movement by inviting Subang President Peter John C. Enorio and Vice President for Environmental Affairs Landyrl Turtoga to take part in the program.

Enorio emphasized the importance of protecting and preserving water sources and marine ecosystems, reinforcing the connection between water security and environmental responsibility.

Following the program, student volunteers participated in a beach cleanup, working in teams assigned to different portions of the coastline. The activity was followed by mangrove planting in the afternoon once the designated planting site reached the conditions required for cultivation.

The initiative demonstrated how environmental education can be paired with direct community action. Through its partnership with the When We Care Movement and the support of the Barangay Hilasgasan leadership under Barangay Captain Evelyn Rubia, Subang contributed to a community-based effort to promote responsible stewardship of water and coastal resources.
