Subang President Moderates Key Forum at Visayas Seminar on PAGTANAW 2050

Subang Philippines President Peter John C. Enorio served as moderator during the Visayas Island Seminar on PAGTANAW 2050 held on July 29, 2025, at the Cebu Technological University Main Campus Gymnasium.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology Region VII, the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, and Cebu Technological University, the seminar brought together experts, policymakers, and regional stakeholders under the theme 'Infrastructure, Energy, and Water Security Outlook: Moving Forward to PAGTANAW 2050.'

The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Pet Roey L. Pascual, CTU Vice President for Research and Development and Subang Adviser, delivered on behalf of CTU President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito. DOST-VII OIC-Regional Director Dr. Tristan L. Abando followed with opening remarks emphasizing the importance of localizing the PAGTANAW 2050 foresight framework. Prof. Fortunato T. de la Peña, President of PhilAAST and former DOST Secretary, formally opened the technical discussions.

Enorio moderated the open forum and couch session, facilitating exchanges between speakers, discussants, and participants on energy, infrastructure, urban transport, and housing. The discussion also highlighted the importance of connecting science-based foresight with community realities and long-term resilience.

The technical sessions featured Dr. Danilo Jaque of Hydronet Consultants, Inc. on the energy-water nexus; Engr. Augusto 'Jay-Ar' Reynes of the Clean Energy Advocates Association of the Philippines, Inc. on energy security; Architect Joseph Michael Espina, former Head of the Cebu City Planning and Development Office, on infrastructure outlook; and Dr. Jonathan C. Maglasang and Engr. Hana Astrid Canseco-Tunacao of CTU Main Campus College of Engineering on urban and maritime transport and housing.

Dr. Diana L. Ignacio, Assistant Secretary for Administrative and Legal Affairs of the Department of Science and Technology, delivered the synthesis and closing message, encouraging continued collaboration between science and society.

Also in attendance were Subang - CTU Chapter President Shaina Faith D. Visorro, Subang - CTU Chapter Volunteer Intern Miles Wilven Ayuban, and CTU students Brylle Bryan Lauglaug and Baby Seth E. Villatima.
