Penning the Future: A Campus Journalism Workshop

On December 17, 2024, Subang - Cebu Technological University Chapter conducted Penning the Future: A Campus Journalism Workshop at the Multimedia Room of the New CAFBC Building at CTU-Barili Campus.

The workshop, themed "Empowering Tomorrow's Storytellers: Mastering the Basics of Campus Journalism," was designed to strengthen the journalism skills of budding campus journalists from Cagay National High School.

The program included sessions on copyreading and headline writing by Krista Marie Frances C. Bicada, science and technology writing by Shaina Faith D. Visorro, news and column writing by Peter John C. Enorio, feature, sports, and editorial writing by Ruth C. Enorio, and editorial cartooning by Raf B. Jimenez.

Participants were grouped according to their selected journalism categories and engaged in discussions, practical exercises, and mentoring. The afternoon hands-on activity allowed participants to produce articles, headlines, editorials, and editorial cartoons, followed by an open forum and personalized feedback.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates and closing remarks from Cagay National High School Principal Marilou S. Costuna, who emphasized honesty and integrity in journalism. The activity provided students with practical communication skills while strengthening the role of youth storytelling in education and community engagement.
