Subang Leaders Share Volunteerism and Leadership Lessons at Alagad Siquijor Summit

Youth leaders from across Siquijor gathered in Lazi on August 26, 2024, for Alagad Siquijor: Volunteer Summit 2024, a day focused on volunteerism, leadership, communication, and community service.

Subang leaders played several roles throughout the program. SPS Education Department Director Nikki Lois O. Villas opened the program with reflections on four values drawn from her volunteer experience: passion, dedication, teamwork, and purpose.

Subang National Executive President Peter John C. Enorio delivered a plenary talk on volunteerism in the Philippines, encouraging participants to recognize the role of volunteer action in community development and to direct their efforts toward meaningful service.

SPS Provincial Director Dyn Michael M. Lozana followed with a discussion on communication and leadership, while SPS Community Affairs Department Director Jan Blair More J. Omandam shared reflections from his own volunteer journey.

The afternoon featured "In the Heart of Volunteers," where youth leaders from Padayon Youth Empowered Leader, Zero Waste Youth Siquijor, and the Supreme Secondary Learner Government of Lazi National Agricultural School shared their organizations' experiences.

Team-building activities, leadership challenges, and a Youth Jam completed the program, giving participants opportunities to strengthen relationships and reflect on leadership through service.

The summit brought together different youth organizations and volunteers around a common conversation on how young people can contribute to their communities through sustained and purposeful volunteerism.
